And The Six Elements Of Wellbeing
My coaching expertise is based on career progression, and this is the time of year where graduation ceremonies have started to take place up and down the country.
Firstly, congratulations to everyone who is graduating, the hard work studying has paid off and you are ready to progress onto the next chapter.
One of my favourite comedians, who is sadly no longer with us is Rik Mayall, and in 2008 he was given an Honorary Doctorate by the University of Exeter. In his entertaining acceptance speech, he gave the rest of the year’s graduates an insight into his guiding principles.
It is available on YouTube and is well worth giving it a watch.

Towards the end he shared his five mantras to live life by based around equality, opportunity, wisdom, freedom and love.
These being:
- All men are equal therefore no one can ever be your genuine superior.
- It is your future. It is yours to create. Your future is as bright as you make it.
- Change is a constant of life. So you must never ever lose your wisdom.
- If you want to live a full and complete human life, you have to be free. Freedom is paramount.
- Love is the answer.
Always making sure you have these five things, you’ll be alright, with that and a bit if good luck.
“Start living your lives to the full in the real, nasty, sexy world out there.”
In the World of coaching, we focus on six elements of wellbeing:
